The M392 Designated Marksman Rifle, also known as the Designated Marksman Rifle, Caliber 7.62 mm, M392, is a select-fire rifle employed by the United Nations Space Command. It was developed as a space-borne replacement for the M24 Sniper Weapon System, which was unable to function in zero gravity conditions.
The M392 has significantly improved accuracy and range over its predecessor while still maintaining high rates of fire. It can be fitted with a wide variety of optics including holographic sights, thermal scopes, and daylight visible lights. The M392's design allows it to be easily modified to meet different requirements such as higher magnification or shorter barrel lengths.
DMRs are deployed on all UNSC vessels capable of carrying them. They are usually placed in remote areas where they can provide long-range firepower without risking exposure to enemy forces.
UNSC uses DMRs to eliminate threats before they become an issue. This reduces unnecessary conflict between military units and prevents casualties caused by accidental strikes.
DMRs have been used extensively in recent years by both the ONI and GSB. They have become popular tools for eliminating high-value targets that pose a risk to civilian life.
Space guns are powerful but require extensive maintenance to work properly.
Marksman Rifle of the United States Marine Corps and Navy. The M24, M28, and M29 are the current series production models.
The M24 has been in continuous production since it was adopted in 1967. It is used by both US armed forces and their allied countries. Around 10,000 units have been sold worldwide.
The M28 uses many improvements upon the original M24 design, including a polymer frame instead of steel, a fully adjustable stock, and different barrel lengths and configurations. A total of 2,844 M28s were produced from 1973 to 1991.
The M29 continues with some modifications from the M28 design, but most notably includes the addition of a folding forward grip that can be attached to the end of the barrel when not in use. This allows the rifle to be carried more easily than the full-size model while still providing a means of rapid deployment should the need arise.
In addition to these models, several other variations have been produced over the years for various purposes.
Rifle with Specified Marksmanship Equipment. Includes any rifle that has been modified by the manufacturer to shoot more accurately or farther. Also includes any rifle that uses some type of special ammunition designed specifically for longer-range shooting.
Longbow DMR means a person was killed with a longbow.
DMR stands for Direct Mortar Round. It is an explosive round used in mortars, including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
Longbow is a term used for the ancient Chinese bow, which was typically about 5 feet (1.5 m) long. Modern imitations are often called "longbows" even though they usually have lengths of only 3 to 3.5 feet (1 to 1.25 m). The word "longbow" also can be applied to other bows that are not true arms and shoulders weapons but rather flat wooden beams with handgrips attached. These are used as walking sticks or yard tools.
In this case, the victim was shot with a longbow.
